Rugby: Mealamu to miss Highlanders match

Blues captain Keven Mealamu's calf injury will keep him out of his struggling side's next match against the Highlanders in Dunedin on Friday.

Mealamu has struggled with a calf problem all season and he was forced to leave the field during the Blues' 29-23 loss to the Sharks at Eden Park on Friday night.

The All Blacks hooker will miss the Highlanders match and also possibly the match against the Reds in Auckland next week.

Under-pressure coach Pat Lam today told media he was determined to stay on with the franchise in spite of a run of results which has seen his team win one of seven. He said he had no interest in coaching overseas.
