Rugby: Blues pin hopes on Anscombe

He kicked New Zealand to glory at the Junior World Championship, now the Blues are pinning their hopes on Gareth Anscombe doing the same for them in Super Rugby.

With Stephen Brett leaving for Japan, the door is open for Anscombe to become their number one, number ten next season.

Coach Pat Lam says the nineteen year old has a great opportunity to be an influential member of their team.

Lam says when you're in the squad you have a chance to compete but he has huge potential.

Pat Lam says it's a big call to say Anscombe will be their starting first five next season but he'll definitely have the chance to be.
