STORMERS 31 BULLS 27
CAPE TOWN - South Africa's Bulls became the first team in Super 12 history to lose every match when they went down 31-27 to the Stormers in a local derby at Newlands on Saturday.
The Bulls outscored their opponents by four tries to three, but failed to
make the most of the bulk of the possession they enjoyed during the first half.
The defeat consigned them to their 11th consecutive loss, while the Stormers won their fifth match of another disappointing season for the South African teams. The Stormers move up to seventh in the standings -- the highest-placed South African team.
Stormers centre Marius Joubert scored a brace of tries while wing Pieter Rossouw added the other in his last match in South Africa before joining London Irish in the English premiership as a player-coach next season.
Rossouw scored in the 50th minute -- the first try for the home team -- when Joubert chose to pass instead of going over himself with the try line at his mercy.
The 22-year-old Joubert then added two tries in the space of five minutes to put his side in the lead.
His first, in the 58th minute, was a sublime individual effort which saw him carve his way through the Bulls defence from 35-metres out, stepping away from four tackles to score under the posts.
Fullback Percy Montgomery added four penalties and two conversions for a haul of 16 points.
The Bulls scored tries through lock Victor Matfield, fullback Johan Roets and wings Giscard Pieters and Wylie Human.
