Australian officials are poised to take Stirling Mortlock from Australia's opening rugby World Cup match on Friday.
Mortlock has spent the past two days in bed and will miss the Wallabies' training session this afternoon.
Unless he makes a significant recovery from gastroenteritis today, he will be ruled out of the match against Argentina.
Mat Rogers or Matt Burke loom as likely replacements.
