How the hurt ended:

0 min
Aaron Cruden kicks off to start the seventh Rugby World Cup final.

2 min
After some nervous kicking from both sides, the All Blacks botch their first lineout, the ball going over the back.

4 min
After a spell of sustained possession in which France went
from side to side without making too much ground, winger Alexis Palisson is penalised for not releasing the ball.

6 min
Kieran Read puts Richard Kahui into space before the defence scrambles to knock him into touch. A defender was offside, giving Weepu the chance to open the scoring with a three-pointer from just inside the French 10-metre line, out on the left. He misses badly.

11 min
The All Blacks are under pressure as France attack; a couple of timely turnovers get the home side out of their own territory. But Aurelien Rougerie kicks well on the left to bag an attacking lineout. The All Blacks attack the throw and seize the ball, relieving the pressure.

13 min
As Richie McCaw flies into a breakdown his knee strikes Morgan Parra in the head. The French No 10 goes to the blood bin and Francois Trinh-Duc is on.

15 min
All Blacks 5 France 0

Prop Tony Woodcock scores a try from a well-executed lineout move five metres from the French line. The ball is thrown towards the back as the front of the lineout cribs forward, opening up space in the middle. Jerome Kaino gets high and taps it down to Woodcock who charges through unopposed. Read did just enough to block Imanol Harinordoquy's chance to cover, but the French defence was caught napping. Weepu misses the conversion.

Weepu misses an easy penalty from just outside the 22, after a French hand pops into a ruck.

30 min
The All Blacks pile on the pressure and more points seem likely. McCaw chases a Kahui grubber kick in the French in-goal area, but Rougerie gets it.

32 min
Trinh-Duc is in good form and kicks deep to the left, where Cory Jane puts a foot on the sideline while tidying up, giving the French good field position. They promptly knock on and concede a penalty at the resulting scrum. Pressure off.

34 min
Aaron Cruden hyper-extends his right leg in a tackle. Enter Stephen Donald, the All Blacks' fourth-choice first five-eighths.

36 min
From 30 metres, a drop goal from Trinh-Duc is away to the left.

37 min
Trinh-Duc makes a terrific break down the right. A desperate ankle tap from Weepu stops a try-scoring chance.
