MELBOURNE - The Springboks have made one change from the team who thrashed Samoa in World Cup rugby pool play last Saturday for their quarterfinal against the All Blacks here on Saurday.
Flanker Joe Van Niekerk badly injured ligaments in his knee during the 60-10 win over Samoa at Brisbane and
has flown home for treatment.
His place is taken by the imposing Danie Rossouw, 25, the 116kg Northern Transvaal loose forward who has impressed at this tournament.
Uncapped before the World Cup, he has scored three tries in three tests.
Rossouw's place on the reserve bench is taken by lock Selborne Boome.
Seven members of the starting 15 named this morning were in the starting lineup who lost 11-19 to the All Blacks when they last met in Dunedin three months ago.
They are wingers Ashwin Willemse and Thinus Delport, centre Jorrie Muller, halfback Joost van der Westhuizen, No 8 Juan Smith, lock Victor Matfield and flanker Corne Krige, who will captain South Africa for the 18th time.
Five players on the Springbok reserve bench were also involved in the test at Carisbrook.
