Rugby World Cup day five: While you were sleeping

Here's all that occurred in the early hours at the 2015 Rugby World Cup this morning.

WHAT'S HAPPENED

Young Sam Cane

is named to lead the All Blacks for the first time, in tomorrow's match against Namibia. Aussie centre Tevita Kuridrani and gigantic Fijian wing Nemani Nadolo - cousins who played together as kids in Fiji - named in the Aussie and Fiji teams who face each other in Cardiff.

, who missed the last World Cup through injury, starts against Scotland. World Cup has told officials to

hurry up when it comes to using video replays

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

Cane is clearly the captain of the future, when Kieran Read's career is done. Ponderous scrutiny of video has been an embarrassing aspect of the tournament so far, as rugby tries to wow the world and grow its game.

UPSETS?

Japan's extraordinary victory over the Springboks means all eyes are on their clash against Scotland. Given Scotland's struggles this year, and Japan's rise, it could be an even struggle but Scotland should be slight favourites.

THE BEST LAID PLANS...

...don't always work out.Veteran loosie Jerome Kaino was set to start against Namibia at lock, but has been rested after taking a battering against the Pumas and suffering a slight hamstring injury.

HOW DOES THIS AFFECT THE ALL BLACKS?

Coach Steve Hansen says Kaino could have played but his absence does raise questions about whether the All Blacks might be caught short, having taken only three specialist locks to the World Cup with Kaino the backup. Victor Vito will be nervous - he is probably the next makeshift lock off the rank.
