He's still got it twenty years on. Former All Black Zinzan Brooke has recreated his legendary World Cup semi-final drop goal.
The spectacular feat against England in the same game Jonah Lomu scored four tries was played out again by Brooke two decades on from the 1995 World Cupin South Africa.
A social media post by English-based Brooke, who turned 50 earlier this year, begins with the teaser: "20 years on from my @rugbyworldcup drop goal against @EnglandRugby, have I still got it...?"
After showing footage of his incredible 47 metre angled drop goal in New Zealand's rollicking 40-15 semi-final thrashing of England - with incredulous TV commentator Keith Quinn saying "he's a million miles out" while Brooke lines up his audacious attempt - Brooke is filmed standing in a suburban English rugby ground, the same distance from the goalposts as he was 20 years ago.
"Have I still got it? Let's see," he says cheekily to the camera before turning and taking his shot at goal.
True to form, the drop kick is straight and true. The 58-test All Black, considered the most multi-skilled No. 8 to have worn the black jersey, allows himself a little fist pump in celebration.
