If Scotland was to win tomorrow's game against Australia it'd be a bigger upset than the battle of Stirling Bridge.
But Auckland based Ayrshire native Steve McClory is, of course, holding out hope that the brave team can beat the Aussies at Twickenham in the early hours of Monday morning.
Mr McClory said he'd be quite happy for his team to do the All Blacks a favour by knocking the Wallabies out of the 2015 Rugby World Cup - and All blacks fans could thank him later.
The 36-year-old business analyst jet-setted his way to Cardiff last week, with his Kiwi girlfriend Amy Cunningham, to watch the All Blacks thrash France in their quarter final today, but he'll be at home in Irvine - southwest of Glasgow - with his family and friends to watch Scotland play the Wallabies.
When he spoke to the Herald, he was waiting fro his flight from Wales to Scotland, and was yet to have a kip.
And far from having a champagne breakfast tomorrow, clan McClory would be having "a wee dram of whiskey" to wash down their haggis for tea as they watched the game, which kicks off at 4pm Sunday UK time (4am Monday local time).
Mr McClory said hearing the news that Aussie players David Pocock and Israel Folau were out was a massive boost - though their replacements weren't too bad.
"Although I, along with everyone else, think Scotland are massive underdogs, I still really believe we have a shot at an upset, considering we have some very talented backs - as long as we can get them the ball," he said.
