Ben Smith has played twice for the All Blacks since his test debut in 2009 against Italy.
Smith, 25, didn't feature in the All Blacks' 2010 side, but appeared for the gold medal-winning Rugby sevens side at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
