All Blacks: Richie McCaw sets Rugby World Cup record

All Blacks skipper Richie McCaw has added another record to his ever-increasing list of accomplishments.

The All Blacks' 43-10 win over Georgia wasn't a great Rugby World Cup win, but it made McCaw a great Rugby World Cup winner - with his involvement in the contest giving him his 17th Rugby World Cup win - the most by any player in the history of the World Cup.

McCaw's win, saw him eclipse the previous record - shared by George Gregan and Jason Leonard - and brings his World Cup record to 17 wins and two losses.

His World Cup career started 12 years ago with a win over Italy, and the only blemishes on the captain's record are losses to Australia (2003) and France (2007). He can add the milestone to his honour of being the most-capped international player of all time, with his total now at 145 test matches.

Also bringing up a milestone was reserve hooker Keven Mealamu, who won his 15th Rugby World Cup game, tied for fourth all-time, alongside fellow Kiwi hooking legend Sean Fitzpatrick.

Additionally, the All Blacks have won their last ten Rugby World Cup matches, equaling their best ever run in the competition when they won their first 10 World Cup games on the bounce between 1987 and 1991.

McCaw suffered an injury during the clash which saw him limp to the bench with 20 minutes remaining, but he should be fit to rack up more World Cup wins, saying it's "nothing a bit of ice won't fix."
