A shoulder injury has ruled Auckland's DJ Forbes out of the New Zealand squad for this weekend's International Rugby Board sevens tournament in San Diego.
Forbes injured the shoulder against Kenya last Friday in New Zealand's opening match of the Wellington event.
He has been replaced by Taranaki's
Scott Waldrom, who last played for his country in 2002, in the only change to the squad who reached the semifinals of the Wellington IRB tournament on Saturday.
Wellington's Nigel Hunt and North Harbour's Zar Lawrence, who both injured their ankles in the quarterfinal win over England, have been ruled fit to keep their places in the 12-man squad.
New Zealand's pool opponents in San Diego are Canada, Chile and France.
New Zealand squad for San Diego: Charles Baxter (Bay of Plenty), Tomasi Cama (Manawatu), Edwin Cocker (Otago), Nigel Hunt (Wellington), Tafai Ioasa (Hawke's Bay, captain), Solomon King (Bay of Plenty), Zar Lawrence (North Harbour), Afeleke Pelenise (Canterbury), Lote Raikabula (Hawke' Bay), Nick Thomson (Canterbury), Scott Waldrom (Taranaki) and Steven Yates (Canterbury).
