England winger Jonny May has become the 'butt' of international jokes after footage of him getting his head stuck in a very awkward position while scrumming against Argentina went viral.
May, clearly unsure how to bind behind Mako Vunipola, at one stage puts his head between the legs of theloosehead prop, leading his teammates to brutally assess his efforts.
"Unbelievable isn't it, what's he doing? It's madness," England halfback Ben Youngs said.
"He needs to get on the scrum machine. Poor old Mako."
May was called in to scrummage as an open side flanker after England had tighthead prop Dan Cole sent to the sin bin and were a man short in the forwards.
England fullback Mike Brown questioned the choice to put May into the set-piece fray.
"He couldn't have watched much rugby or scrums in a rugby game to bind the way he was binding," Brown said.
"That's just Jonny. Interesting technique, I don't think it'll be one that they'll be using going forward, but it made us laugh.
"I want to know who put him on the scrum. That's a good question, who actually put him on in the scrum in the first place? Because he'd be the last person I'd [use]. That's who needs to answer some questions."
