Rugby: Honour for ex-Wallaby

Grand Slam-winning skipper Andrew Slack has become the 18th former Australian rugby test player inducted into the Wallabies' Hall of Fame.

Queensland centre Slack played 39 tests from 1977 to 1987 and captained the Wallabies on 19 occasions.

He led Australia to their only clean sweep of the United Kingdom home unions in 1984 when the Wallabies beat England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales.

But Slack regards the 1986 Bledisloe Cup series triumph, beating the All Blacks 2-1 on New Zealand soil, as his greatest achievement in the gold jersey.

Fellow Grand Slam winning backline members Mark Ella, David Campese and Nick Farr-Jones are among the 17 past greats previously inducted into the hall of fame.

The Australian Rugby Union will announce two more members in coming months.
