Silver Ferns skipper Casey Kopua will undergo surgery on her injured knee tomorrow, ruling her out of netball for at least six months.
Scans in Auckland today confirmed the star defender had ruptured her patella tendon when she dislocated her knee cap in Saturday's 47-34 loss to Australia in Sydney.
She will go under the knife in Hamilton today to repair the tendon, which attaches the kneecap to the shin. Kopua will then come under the care of Netball New Zealand medical staff as she begins the road to recovery and rehabilitation.
Kopua, who became New Zealand's most capped skipper on Saturday night before succumbing to the horrific injury, is facing a race against time to be fit for next year's World Cup in Sydney.
