The home side scored seven tries to three, including four in the first half to grab a bonus point before the break.

Iliesa Tanivula and Orene Ai'i dotted down twice for Auckland, while Brent Ward, Bradley Mika and Daniel Braid also scored.

Ben Herring and Paul Miller scored tries for Southland.
