Wynne Gray and Chris Rattue review the winners and losers from the sporting weekend.

Winners:

Kieran Read
The wide offloads have been put away, but he's been in tremendous form, leading the All Blacks to their mandatory series victory over Wales. - CR

England
Yes, their rugby team, against the Wilters of Oz. England have returned to their muscular traditions, and they always go best when they stick to their knitting. It's great for rugby, which needs challengers to the All Blacks. - CR

Auckland Darts Masters:
It's like sevens, as it used to be, with arrows. Rollicking interaction between competitors and fans boosted by the men on the microphones, massive skill in games at a racy clip in front of raucous audiences. - WG

Gary Anderson
The world champ won the Auckland Darts Masters in absolute style - the tournament produced some games of stunning quality. - CR

The IAAF:
For taking a stand and banning Russia from Rio for consistent and state-orchestrated drugs cheating. They must continue the charge against other nations whose sports programmes are tainted. - WG

Porsche:
Won the Le Mans 24 hour race on the final lap when Toyota with five minutes left in the race and holding a handy lead, lost power as they began their final lap. - WG

Losers:

The Warriors:
Yes, they won, and well done to them. they are in the hunt for a top eight finish. But Shaun Johnson didn't look fully fit against the Roosters, and Thomas Leuluai suffered a "head knock". Their halves need to be operating at full speed. - CR

The Wallabies
Showed few ideas and botched the series against England both on and off the track Then boss Bill Pulver slated the ground authorities instead of a mea culpa about the state of the track in Melbourne. Red card all round for the ARU and Wallabies. - WG

Euro 2016:
The bulk of coverage about Euro 2016 shows rivals groups of fans rioting and creating carnage. It is a huge turnoff from what should be a series of beautiful games in the tournament. - WG

Melbourne:
As one of the great sporting cities. The turf at AAMI Park was unfit for a rugby international. Very embarrassing. - CR

Ireland rugby
Ireland had the Boks on toast for the second week running. They were 15 minutes shy of an historic away series win but yielded three tries and victory as they limped to the finish. - WG

Lewis Hamilton:
The Brit's hopes of a third consecutive F1 title slipped as team mate Nico Rosberg increased his lead with victory in Azerbaijan. Believe it or not, Hamilton couldn't work out what the flashing lights on his dashboard meant. - CR
