Dan Carter has won more awards than most people can expect in a lifetime - but a plaudit for sportswriting was probably one the All Black great probably never expected.
Carter's recently released book has won the best autobiography prize at the prestigious 2016 Sportel Awards to be held in Monaco on October 25.
The book, Dan Carter: The Autobiography of an All Blacks Legend, was written with Duncan Greive and published by Auckland-based Upstart Press.
It had previously been shortlisted for the United Kingdom's Cross Sports Book Awards in the international sports autobiography of the year category.
Carter's autobiography was the highest-selling book in New Zealand in 2015, ahead of Lee Child's Make Me and E L James' Grey.
