Quade Cooper will play at first-five against the All Blacks on Saturday, with Kurtley Beale dropped from the starting XV.
However, in a departure from convention, Wallabies coach Robbie Deans has yet to announce his reserves for the test at Eden Park, a match his side must win to haveany hope of taking back the Bledisloe Cup.
Cooper's inclusion after he was absent from the match-day squad in the Sydney defeat was widely predicted, as was the fact that fullback Beale faced a demotion after his mistake-ridden performance.
Brumbies flanker Michael Hooper starts in place of injured captain David Cooper, with halfback Will Genia taking over the leadership.
The return of Cooper, who suffered a serious knee injury in his last match at Eden Park - during the World Cup playoff for third and fourth - shifts Berrick Barnes out one place in the backline to second-five. Anthony Fainga'a has been dropped to make way for Barnes, who retains the goal-kicking duties.
Another backline change sees the versatile Adam Ashley-Cooper switch from wing to fullback. The experienced Waratahs wing Drew Mitchell takes up the position vacated by Ashley-Cooper on the right wing. Mitchell didn't make it off the reserves bench last week.
A media statement from the Australia Rugby Union stated that the selectors have opted to hold off finalising the reserves bench due to an injury concern and would name it once the side arrives in Auckland tonight.
The other change in the forwards comes at tighthead prop, with Ben Alexander replacing the injured Sekope Kepu.
