Bernard Sydney (Joey) Sadler, who had been one of the oldest surviving former All Blacks, has died in Wellington, aged 92.
As a 21-year old Sadler was a big success as one of the All Blacks halfbacks who toured Britain in 1935-1936, playing three of the internationals. However, after two tests against Australia in 1936 Sadler's career ended prematurely because of a serious knee injury.
His death leaves double international Eric Tindill as the only survivor from the 1935 team.
Tindill, 96, is now both the oldest living All Black and New Zealand's oldest former test cricketer.
