All you need to know about the All Blacks' opening clash of 2017.

What is it?
The All Blacks' first international outing of the year of course doubles up as their final tune-up before the Test series against the British and Irish Lions gets underway next Saturday.

When is it?
Tonight.

Where is it?
The game takes place at Auckland's Eden Park, the same venue that hosts the first Lions Test. Wales, captained by centre Jamie Roberts, take on Tonga as a curtain raiser in the first ever rugby test double-header at the famous ground.

What time is kick-off?
The main match gets going at 8pm. The Wales-Tonga game kicks off at 5.30pm.

How can I follow it?
Sky is showing both games. Nigel Yalden will call both tests live on Radio Sport and nzherald.co.nz will be live blogging the All Blacks-Samoa clash from 7.30pm.

Can I expect anything special?
Yes, if Scott Barrett and Jordie Barrett come off the bench and join Beauden on the field, it will be the first time in All Blacks history that three brothers have played together in the same test team.

It will also be the first time the three Barretts have played in the same team - other than in the backyard of course.

What's the latest team news?
The All Blacks are settled. Steve Hansen has named a strong side as he looks to generate some impetus heading into the Lions series, although skipper Kieran Read, still recovering from a broken thumb, is not risked.

Ben Smith is at fullback and captains the All Blacks for the first time on the occasion of his 61st cap. Elsewhere, Israel Dagg and Julian Savea start on the wings, with Sonny Bill Williams and Anton Lienert-Brown combining in the centres.

Aaron Smith renews his halfback partnership with Beauden Barrett, who is joined in the match-day 23 by siblings Scott and Jordie.

Up front, Jerome Kaino recovers from his knee injury and will be out to prove his fitness at blindside flanker. Interestingly, Ardie Savea wears the number eight jersey with Sam Cane alongside him at openside flanker.

Four of the Crusaders who lost to the Lions form the All Blacks front five along with Chiefs lock Brodie Retallick. Given the referee is Frenchman Mathieu Raynal, who pretty much enraged all of New Zealand with how he officiated the scrum last weekend, the set piece battle could be interesting.

Besides Jordie Barrett, Vaea Fifita covers the back and second rows as the other potential debutant.

Samoa's side has names that will be familiar to New Zealand audiences as well as fans of the English Premiership and other European leagues. Chiefs midfielder Tim Nanai-Williams is the only Super Rugby player from this year's competition on show for Samoa.

But the side includes former Hurricanes and current Bristol openside Jack Lam and Northampton fullback Ah See Tuala. Former Crusaders halfback Kahn Fotuali'i, now with Bath, captains them.
