Are the All Blacks better with 14 men?

When Danes Coles was sent from the field in Sunday morning's victory over England, the All Blacks were reduced to 14 men for the seventh time in 12 tests this year.

And, once again, it didn't seem to faze Steve Hansen's men one bit.

In the 70 minutes the All Blacks have been missing a man this season, they have actually outscored the opposition ... by a lot.

Since the opening three test series against England, the All Blacks have outscored opponents 27-9 while playing with 14 men, including three tries.

Those "opponents" just happen to be only two sides - England and Australia - who the All Blacks have faced seven times.

The Wallabies managed to outscore the All Blacks twice this season while having an extra man, on both occasions kicking a solo penalty.

The All Blacks have also made it hard on themselves, with six of the seven players sent from the field being forwards, leaving the remaining forwards on the field having to share the grunt work between them.

Extra man advantage

On the other side of the coin, the All Blacks have certainly made the most when they have had an extra man advantage.

Four players have been yellow-carded against the All Blacks this year - once again players from England and Australia.

During those 40 minutes the All Blacks scored five tries and conceded just three points.
