All Black lock Ali Williams has not suffered any serious neck damage from the injury he picked up in Auckland's win over Bay of Plenty on Saturday night, his coach said today.
Williams had his head and neck pushed awkwardly in a ruck. He had scans after the game on Saturday night, with a few concerns over long term damage.
Auckland coach Pat Lam confirmed this morning that Williams is alright. Lam says the injury will settle more over the next few days, after initial fears they are pleased to know there is not any serious or long term damage.
Pat Lam says, however, that Williams is highly unlikely to play next Friday night against Wellington in the semis.
Meanwhile, Luke McAlister's shoulder injury in North Harbour's loss to Otago yesterday is apparently not too serious, and he is reported to be fit to resume training in a few weeks.
