Fullback Kevin Ward scored 19 points as the Hawkes Bay Academy side beat Natal under-20 34-23.

Ward scored a try and kicked four penalties and one conversion for the home team, who led 26-6 at halftime.

The other tries for the Hawkes Bay team came from winger and New Zealand touch representative Paratene Edwards, who scored two, and dynamic hooker Nick Marshall, who went over a after a clever 50m solo run.
