Nominations for the 1999 NZRFU awards to be made at the
annual awards dinner in Auckland today.-
Division 1 player of the year: Orene Ai'i (Auckland),
Filo Tiatia (Wellington), Glenn Taylor (Northland).
Division 2 player of the year: Thompson Tapsell (Bay of
Plenty), Warren Johnston (Nelson Bays), Mark De
Goldi
(Nelson Bays).
Division 3 player of the year: Michael Foster (West
Coast), Michael Morrisey (Poverty Bay), Victor
Taingahue (East Coast).
NPC coach of the year: Wayne Pivac (Auckland), Joe
McClutchie (East Coast), Bill Liddell (Nelson Bays).
Super 12 player of the year: Andrew Mehrtens
(Crusaders), Byron Kelleher (Highlanders), Todd
Blackadder (Crusaders).
Age-grade player of the year: Samiu Vahafolau
(Auckland, Keith Cameron (Otago), Doug Howlett
(Auckland).
Women's player of the year: Exia Shelford (Bay of
Plenty), Susie Shortland (Auckland), Monique Hirovanaa
(Auckland).
Richard Crawshaw Memorial sevens player of the year:
Orene Ai'i (Auckland), Amasio Raoma-Valence (Auckland),
Brad Fleming (Wellington).
K.R. Tremain Memorial Trophy personality of the year:
Jonah Lomu (Counties Manukau), Andrew Mehrtens
(Canterbury), Tana Umaga (Wellington).
There are two new awards: a people's choice award will
be awarded to an All Black selected by thousands of
entries and the Steinlager Salver will be awarded to a
past All Black who epitomises the values that All
Blacks represent.
