Wayne Pivac has been replaced by another New Zealander, John Boe, as coach of the Pacific Island composite rugby team to play the Wallabies, All Blacks and South Africa in July, Radio Sport reported today.
The Pacific Island Rugby Alliance nations Fiji, Tonga and Samoa met in Tonga last night.
There has
been speculation that Tonga and Samoa were concerned their players may not get a fair deal under Pivac, with the former Auckland coach now in charge of the Fiji national side.
Boe was coach of Samoa at last year's World Cup and stepped aside this year to allow former All Black Michael Jones to take over.
Pivac still expects to help select the team.
Over the next few days the Islanders, who will play the All Blacks at North Harbour on July 10th, will sort out which New Zealand based players they will approach under the new clarified IRB rules.
It is understood they are looking at around half a dozen names.
