The ladder-leading Penrith Panthers overcame a 10-point deficit in the second half to claim their 10th win of the season, but the Canberra Raiders threatened to spoil the party.
Penrith welcomed the return of four Origin stars Nathan Cleary, Reagan Campbell-Gillard, James Maloney and Tyrone Peachy - who shone thebrightest.
Peachy score two tries in the game, setting up the score-equaling try where Dean Whare found the line before Maloney converted to make it 22-all with five minutes left.
It was young gun Cleary who shot down the hopes of the Raiders when he slotted a drop goal two minutes before the full-time hooter.

The Raiders looked to run away with the game in the second half, with Elliot Whitehead scoring in the corner to make it 20-10.
However, Joseph Leilua failed a head injury assessment 90 seconds into the match and New Zealand international Jordan Rapana left the field with a hamstring injury.
Penrith was able to turn the tides late in the second half and continue their reign at the top.
Rabbitohs continue excellent run to record six-in-a-row

The South Sydney Rabbitohs were able to manage their sixth win on the trot last night against the Gold Coast Titans, without their Origin stars.
The game was riddled with errors in which Titans captain Ryan James ran in two tries as he tried to lead from the front.
The game was stop-start throughout and saw Titans player Keegan Hipgrave sin-binned twice in the same game - the first since Mick Buettner in 2002.
But the Rabbitohs were not much better, their play was sloppy and full of mistakes giving up 16 errors while the Titans were penalised 12 times.

Then, Robbie Farah dropped the ball over the line for the bunnies after finding himself in open space after running through the ruck from close range.
A second-half penalty proved the difference for South Sydney after each side scored three tries.
The Titans maintain their bottom eight placing as the Rabbitohs continue to win on the way towards the back end of the season.
