Tim Sheens wants to coach the Warriors as potential candidates start to circle the under-performing club.
The Warriors announced the departure of Matt Elliott yesterday after a string of disappointing performances and wildly-fluctuating results. Andrew McFadden was quickly installed as interim coach for the rest of the season and theclub said a decision will be made mid-season about whether McFadden is given the job permanently or they look outside the club.
Sheens' manager Wayne Beavis told the Daily Telegraph Sheens was willing and available.
"I will certainly be putting his name forward if the Warriors are seeking candidates,'' Beavis said. "Tim would be an ideal candidate and would bring experience and solidarity. He is the current Australian coach and a four-time premiership-winning coach.''
Sheens was linked with the Warriors job after Brian McClennan was sacked but it was while he was still with the Wests Tigers. He's since been replaced at the Sydney club and led Australia to last year's Word Cup title with a convincing 34-2 victory over the Kiwis in the final at Old Trafford.
Former Cowboys coach and current Titans assistant coach Neil Henry and former Dragons coach Nathan Brown have also been linked with the Warriors position.
Henry shifted to the Titans after he was axed as Cowboys coach last August and is presently working under John Cartwright but has talked about his desire to be a head coach again.
Brown coached the Dragons from 2003-08 before a shift to the UK Super League and is presently at St Helens, where he is contracted until the end of 2015 but reportedly has get-out clauses. Brown is said to be keen for a return to the NRL.
