NRL: Lowrie sad to bow out of Storm

Todd Lowrie's last game for Parramatta was against Melbourne in the 2009 NRL grand final, and he'll farewell the Storm tomorrow hoping to be on the winning side this time around against Canterbury.

Lowrie, who will move to the Warriors next year, is one of five players playing their last game for the club in the decider at ANZ Stadium.

He'll be joined across the Tasman next year by Dane Nielsen. Sika Manu (Penrith) and Richie Fa'aoso (Manly) are also moving to new pastures.

It will also be the last game for Jaiman Lowe, the former South Sydney and North Queensland forward hanging up his boots after the siren.

Former Newcastle backrower Lowrie admits it'll be a wrench to leave Melbourne after an eventful three seasons that saw him dumped into the middle of the salary cap furore in 2010.

"I've really enjoyed my time here and have been lucky to play with some world-class players and for one of the best coaches in the game," said Lowrie. "I've had a taste of a grand final with Parra and to be honest I didn't really let myself enjoy it.

"I found the whole week a bit of a pain and just wanted to play the game and get on with it.

"But this time around I'm not going to let that happen. I'm lucky enough to have another chance to win a premiership, not many players get that, so I'm going to just embrace it."

Lowrie jumped at the chance to join the Storm after two years with the Eels, but nothing prepared him for what happened in April 2010 when the club was stripped of two premierships for rorting the salary cap.

The team were then also made to play out the rest of that season for no points.

"I'd just joined the club and to be honest it was a bit of a tough time for everyone," he said.

"There was, of course, my connection with Parramatta, but I just told the boys I held no bitterness and was fully behind them and ... desperate to play my part in rebuilding the club. Hopefully I can say I've done that by winning on Sunday."
