Warriors centre Konrad Hurrell has been charged with grade three dangerous contact for the raised knee that left Cronulla Sharks forward Anthony Tupou with a quadruple fracture of his jaw.
The NRL match review committee's decision means Hurrell faces a three week ban with an early guilty plea and fourweeks if he unsuccessfully fights the charge.
The incident occurred in the early stages of the second-half in Saturday night's clash at Remondis Stadium, with Hurrell raising his knee as Tupou attempted to tackle the 23-year-old Tongan international from the side.
Tupou was left bloodied with a broken jaw and was taken to hospital in an ambulance before undergoing surgery yesterday.
Warriors coach Andrew McFadden believed the incident was accidental and said Tupou's tackling technique may have contributed to his injury.
"I know the outcome probably wasn't that great but I didn't think there was much in it," McFadden said.
"He might have raised it a bit, it's pretty typical of Konrad to run like that. He sort of turns his hip into people so I thought it was accidental and maybe even that Tupou just put his head on the wrong side."
