"I think he's got you all," said McFadden. "That came from leftfield, to be honest with you, and I don't even know if he knows what over the ditch means.
"He might have meant over the border or something like that."
McFadden is frustrated that the Warriors have to contend with frequent rumours connecting them to off-contract Australian-based players attempting to raise their value on the open market or while in negotiations with other clubs.
"Hopefully people are starting to recognise that that's what people do," said McFadden.
"They use us as a bit of a pawn. We can't really do much about it but there's no truth to that rumour, either."
Last week the Warriors were linked to a potential one-year deal with troubled Kiwis playmaker Kieran Foran for next season, although Doyle also insisted no formal contract negotiations had taken place.
McFadden was tight-lipped today when asked how much Foran's potential signing was factoring in his thinking for 2017.
"It hasn't been on my mind because I'm focused on the next two games," he said. "There are other people working and talking with Kieran but that's all I can really say."
Meanwhile, McFadden admitted he would be watching Saturday night's crucial match between Gold Coast and Penrith, with both the ninth-ranked Warriors and 10th-placed Wests Tigers' playoff hopes hinging on the Titans dropping their last two regular season games.
"I dare say I'll be looking at the scoreline there," he said. "Obviously it's an important game, that if the Panthers win we still have a chance. We have to look forward, that's the bottom line.
"(The) Titans have some tough games and if we win our next two we put ourselves in the right position so that's all we're focused on."
Eradicating the unforced errors that have plagued the Warriors in their last two defeats to South Sydney and North Queensland is essential if they are to return to the winner's circle.
Against the Cowboys, the Warriors continually put themselves under pressure with basic mistakes inside their own half gifting the home side territory and possession.
The recent injury enforced absence of hooker Issac Luke (knee) had affected the side's cohesion and they also struggled to cover both the pre-game withdrawal of in-form centre Solomone Kata (hamstring) and wing Ken Maumalo's (hamstring) departure early in the first half of the 34-6 defeat in Townsville.
"We've had a few changes in our team unfortunately in the last couple of weeks and sometimes that has an impact on the cohesion.
"But the individual errors that players have made, we just can't have that at this level. "
