Konrad Hurrell has celebrated his inclusion in the Titans first grade side by taking a veiled shot at his former club the Warriors.
The controversial centre is in the 18-man Gold Cost squad to play South Sydney in Perth on Sunday, and made it sound like he felt more at
home than in Auckland. Titans coach Neil Henry has already strongly hinted that Hurrell will be a starting player, just a day after he arrived at his new club.
Hurrell said: "Obviously it feels good to come in somewhere where they need you and they want to bring the best out of you so that's why I chose here. Obviously it's been a tough year for me not getting some game time but I'm excited I'm here."
NRL.com reported that coach Henry sees Hurrell's best position as centre where he can cause havoc with his powerful runs even though the Warriors had used him in the forwards. Hurrell is the only newcomer to the 17 which beat Penrith in the last round. The Titans are on a big road trip, which includes playing the Eels in Darwin in the next round.
Henry said: "I know he's been used as an interchange player in his last few games at the Warriors but we've recruited him to be a centre so hopefully he can slot straight into that role.
