It's a miracle! Blues and Warriors both win away from home for first time since 2012

Kelly Clarkson's hit song Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) was on top of the Billboard 100 last time the Blues and Warriors both won away from home.

One Direction released their first studio album Up All Night and Dr Seuss' The Lorax was released in cinemas at the time.

It has been six years since the rare feat last occurred, it was on the weekend of March 10-12 in 2012.

Fans have had to wait an age for both teams to have success away from home, making life difficult for Auckland sporting fans.

After a nine game losing streak to end the 2017 season, the Warriors dismantled the Rabbitohs defence to win 32-20 in Perth last night.

Meanwhile, early this morning, the Blues - against all odds - managed an incredible comeback to beat the Lions in Johannesburg.

Murphy Taramai sealed the game in the 80th minute scoring by the posts, silencing the South African crowd.

It was this time six years ago in March of 2012 when both teams won away from home.

The Blues recorded a 29-23 win over the Bulls at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in the third round of the Super Rugby season on Saturday, March 10.

The Warriors followed suit, downing the Eels 36-20 at Parramatta Stadium in the second round of the NRL season on Monday, March 12.

At the time, incumbent Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern was ranked the fourth highest Labour MP, with David Shearer at the helm of Labour.

John Key was still in office as Prime Minister after first being elected in 2008.

The weekend before it was announced that the 131-year-old ChristChurch Cathedral would be demolished after the 2011 earthquake.

Legendary football manager Sir Alex Ferguson was still and Manchester United and LeBron James was well on his way to winning his first NBA title.

Blues game winner, Taramai, was across the ditch looking to seal a deal with the Penrith Panthers NRL club.

The then 19-year-old was unsuccessful in his attempts to make the Western Sydney club, and returned to New Zealand to play rugby.

Fans haven't had to wait as long for a victory in the same weekend however. Both clubs won playing at home in the first weekend of April last year.

The Blues defeated the Western Force 24-15 at Eden Park on April 1, with the Warriors beating the Titans 28-22 at Mount Smart on April 2.
