Australian broadcaster Terry Kennedy says Jarryd Hayne's sporting career as over - regardless of whether or not the NRL star is found guilty for aggravated sexual assault.
Hayne was released on bail in the early hours of Tuesday morning after the out-of-contract player handed himself into police on Monday afternoonfollowing a sexual assault allegation made by a woman.
The victim, according to reports, alleged she suffered injuries during an initially consensual sexual encounter with Hayne in the Hunter Valley on September 30.
The claim comes as no help to Hayne's pursuit of a new NRL contract, after his recent deal with Parramatta expired on October 31. The Eels had been hopeful at least one other player could be picked up by another club to fit Hayne into next year's salary cap.
However, speaking on the Radio Sport Breakfast, Kennedy said Hayne's sporting career in Australia was fundamentally over, jokingly suggesting his only option would be to play overseas.
"Jarryd Hayne's career as a sportsperson in [Australia] is now finished, over, and we won't see him grace the sporting field in this country again," Kennedy said.
"It's got nothing to do with guilt or innocence, unfortunately, if there's enough mud it sticks.

"That's just the way it is but that's got absolutely nothing to do with guilt or innocence. His sporting career in this country is over, he's got French rugby as the option."
New allegations have since emerged that the woman was bitten by Hayne on the night of the NRL Grand Final, causing profuse bleeding which led to her going to hospital.
It is also alleged Hayne had advised a taxi driver to wait for him outside after he was taken to the woman's house in the Hunter region.
Hayne said nothing to reporters on his way out of Castle Hill police station around 7.30pm. He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on December 10, a police statement said.
A two-time Dally M Medallist, Hayne is one of the biggest names in the NRL thanks largely to his magical run to help Parramatta to the 2009 grand final. He has played 11 Tests for Australia and 23 State of Origins for NSW and scored 121 tries in 214 NRL games.
