The Parramatta Eels have contacted the NRL integrity unit after photos emerged online of 22-year-old fullback Isaiah Iongi preparing to smoke an unknown substance.
Images have surfaced online showing Iongi holding a pre-rolled paper, with an unknown substance in what appears to be a herb grinder in front of him.
Other pictures show him holding a lighter underneath the paper tube in a bathtub, then appearing to smoke it in a dark room.
It is not known who took the images, or when or where they were taken, but the Sydney Morning Herald claims they were published on social media without his consent.
There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing by Iongi, but the Eels immediately referred the matter straight to the NRL’s integrity unit.
“The club is aware of social media images circulating that involve one of its players,” the Eels said in a statement.
“The club has notified the NRL integrity unit and will not be making any further comment at this stage.”
Two of the images in question of Isaiah Iongia.
Iongi is one of the best up-and-coming players in the NRL, and was shortlisted for the 2025 Rookie of the Year award, alongside Warriors forward Leka Halasima and eventual winner Robert Toia.
