I'm a bit nervous about making predictions about where the Warriors will end up this season. It's the time of year where everyone grabs the crystal ball but I'm reluctant to do that; I have in the past - often based more on emotion than facts - and failed miserably.

McFadden has also sharpened up the attack, which was becoming quite one dimensional. Look at their edge play, with someone like Simon Mannering becoming more of an attacking threat. Sam Tomkins is a key to their set moves out wide and even though opposition teams might know what is coming, it doesn't mean they will be able to stop it.
The Melbourne Storm have used the same play book for years but they are very difficult to contain because they perfect their moves.
I'm also confident because of the changes that McFadden has made to his support staff.
Andrew Webster looks like a great fit and Tony Iro brings years of experience. It's taken some of the load off the head coach, allowing him to narrow his focus. New strength and conditioning head Balin Cupples has also made an impact as the players look in great shape.
It's also important to mention Jim Doyle. Everywhere he goes he has left a trail of success and the chief executive has already sharpened up the operation.
So the omens are good. Now it's time to perform. Newcastle is one of the toughest places to start the season - the supporters will be baying for blood tomorrow - but this Warriors team can handle the occasion. The first month is critical and hopefully the Warriors can have a good start to the season for the first time in years.
