NRL: Sea Eagles flog Bulldogs

A midweek meeting at Manly helped return the club's once-feared culture and home-record to the Sea Eagles' NRL jersey at Brookvale.

And it showed in Saturday's 36-0 flogging of Canterbury at Lottoland, the Sea Eagles dominating their rivals in every facet of the game to record the drought- breaking win at home.

Leading into Saturday's win, just four of Manly's players had won there for the club on more than five occasions, as the Sea Eagles had gone winless at the ground since last July.

And it was something the playing group declared had to change.

"It was spoken about during the week," Cherry-Evans said.

"We have a lot of new people at this club. Manly is a difficult one for them to comprehend because they're all so new.

"We had a chat about what Manly now means to us as a side and I think with that moving forward it will help us playing better and better here."

If Cherry-Evans led the charge off the field as the most experienced one-club player at Manly, he backed it up triple-fold on the ground.

The Manly captain set up five tries in Saturday's win, taking the game by the scruff of the neck in his best display under coach Trent Barrett.

He was ably assisted by the Trbojevic brothers.

Fullback Tom scored one try and again ran over 200 metres, while Jake topped Manly's tackle count with 25 and produced four offloads.

It helped Manly to their equal-biggest win at the ground since 2013, a season which signalled the end of an era where the Sea Eagles made four grand finals in seven years and won 73 per cent of games at the ground.

"We used to come here and watch games," Tom Trbojevic said.

"Obviously the side back then was very good. Dug in week in week out and obviously that's what we need to do."

Coach Trent Barrett believes his side have more improvement ahead of them Friday's clash with the undefeated Sydney Roosters.

"We've got a long way to go from where we can get to," Barrett said. "It's a Melbourne Cup run. It's a long season, we've just got to be consistent and keep going."
