If 15-year-old Ulysses Roberts turns out anything like his famous uncle, Greg Inglis, then Parramatta have a future star joining their ranks.
Roberts has a shot at becoming the next big thing in the NRL after signing a three-year deal with the Parramatta Eels.
Whereas Inglis has made his name terrorising defences as a fullback, centre or five-eighth, New South Wales-based Roberts has been described as a bruising utility player who could end up in the front row.
Inglis has asked his long-time agent Allan Gainey to mentor Roberts and ensure he balances his education with his rugby league.
"'GI' (Inglis) wanted to make sure Ulysses was looked after and in a good system where he can develop well while still at school," Gainey told Sydney's The Daily Telegraph.
"He has some great bloodlines but he will have to work hard like all kids at that age. But he has a determination and a great, solid build on him.
"Ulysses is athletic and is in a good system at Parramatta. He will come down to at least two or three camps a year with Parramatta.
"The club will develop and support him. Having a contract will give the kid confidence knowing he is in the system and he will have to work hard to repay them."
Roberts, also the nephew of former St. George-Illawarra Dragons wing Amos Roberts, has been named in the Indigenous under-16s side which will play a curtain-raiser to the NRL All Star game in Newcastle in February.
Roberts' contract is worth an estimated $1500-$2000AUD.
