BRISBANE - Brisbane skipper Darren Lockyer has been cleared of a serious arm injury threatening to delay his start to the NRL season.
Several of his Broncos teammates have not been so lucky with winger Jharal Yow Yeah (knee) out for a minimum of four weeks and young back-row
prospect Rohan Ahern gone for the season after rupturing his ACL in a trial game in Rockhampton at the weekend.
Lockyer injured his biceps in the first tackle of Saturday night's All Stars match on the Gold Coast but scans yesterday revealed only minor damage to the muscle.
"There's a very small tear but nothing too serious," Henjak told AAP.
"We're still looking at him playing in the Redcliffe the weekend after next but if it isn't right, we will just wait until for the game of the season against the Cowboys."
While Lockyer got the green light to tackle the Cowboys, Yow Yeh was found to have suffered a more serious knee injury in the Indigenous All Stars 16-12 win.
"That was a bit of a shock," said Henjak of Yow Yeh's injury.
The dashing young winger hurt his knee in a tackle in the last quarter but may have done more damage by playing on.
Fullback hopeful Josh Hoffman was also on crutches on Monday but hopeful an ankle sprain also suffered in the Rockhampton trial would not keep him off the field for more than a fortnight.
Henjak said Ahern's injury was disappointing for the North St Joseph's discovery who broke into the NRL last season with the Roosters.
"That's a real shame for Rohan, I was really looking forward to seeing him play for us this year," said Henjak.
"He worked very hard in the pre-season, put on some weight and was training strongly.
"It's pretty tough on him but he will have to work his way back and at 21 he has youth on his side."
Ahern was expected to be named in Brisbane's 20-man trial squad to play Canberra at the weekend.
