A 40m field goal by Peter Wallace sealed a remarkable 25-24 golden point NRL win for Brisbane over Canberra at Suncorp Stadium today.

The Broncos looked home when they led 24-0 early in the second half before the Raiders launched a stunning comeback.

They ran in four tries in nine minutes - including a double to Josh Papalii - to lock up the scores in the 73rd minute.

Halfback Wallace finally proved the difference with his 83rd-minute effort.

It was in stark contrast to last week when the Raiders jumped to a 22-0 lead, only to be overrun 40-24 by North Queensland.

It was still a gutsy win by the 'baby Broncos', who were without their five Origin stars including captain Darren Lockyer.

Their absence ensured Alex Glenn, 22, became the youngest Broncos' captain in their 23-year history.

But it looked like he would remember the match for all the wrong reasons.

A halftime spray from Canberra coach David Furner looked to have worked a treat as the Raiders stormed back.

Furner gave his error-riddled side both barrels when they trailed 18-0 at halftime, imploring his side to "show pride in the jersey".

His mood wouldn't have improved when fullback Josh Hoffman weaved his way through to score and make it 24-0 in the 49th minute.

But the Raiders resorted to touch footy to try to get back into the game, and finally cracked the Broncos' line when Papalii crashed over in the 64th minute.

Four minutes later, he had another before Glen Buttriss (70th) and Jarrod Croker (73rd) crossed.

Blake Ferguson coolly slotted the conversions to lock up the scores.

But their luck ran out in golden point.

It was just the second win in 13 games by the Broncos without their talisman Lockyer.

Canberra have won only two of their past 17 games in Queensland.

Glenn celebrated his historic feat in the seventh minute when he muscled through four defenders to open the scoring.

Quick hands by Hoffman set up centre Dale Copley and suddenly it was 10-0 after 15 minutes.

Wallace's conversion attempt hit the post and he also didn't have any luck when his 29th-minute effort was disallowed by video referee Phil Cooley.

He flicked the red light after fill-in lock Jack Reed looked to have knocked on a Corey Norman kick before Wallace touched down.

But the Broncos weren't to be denied, and Norman and Reed again combined to send centre Gerard Beale over in the 36th minute to make it 18-0 by halftime, a minute after a Wallace penalty goal.
