North Queensland prop Carl Webb was rubbed out of the finals series by the National Rugby League (NRL) judiciary tonight when he was suspended for six matches.
Webb was unsuccessful in having his grade four striking charge downgraded and will now be sidelined for the Cowboys' entire finals campaign, starting
with Friday night's clash with West Tigers, as well as the opening rounds of next season.
Webb said he was provoked into punching Melbourne forward Ryan Hoffman after being the victim of a grapple tackle by Storm rake Cameron Smith.
Webb, who was seeking a grade three charge, which would have made him available for the grand final had the Cowboys qualified, said he received a fair hearing and would cop the punishment on the chin.
