League: Utai sent off for swinging arm

Kiwis league winger Matt Utai has become the first player to be sent off in the past 270 NRL matches.

In spite of being down to 12 men, Utai's team, the Bulldogs, belted the Wests Tigers 32-10.

Referee Paul Simpkins gave Utai his marching orders in the 55th minute for a swinging arm that floored Tigers hooker Stuart Flanagan.

Simpkins ruled there was intent in the high shot.

Utai will face the judiciary on Wednesday night.
