SYDNEY - Kiwis league aspirant Terence Seuseu could face a Newcastle court next week after a bar staffer alleged he was punched in the head at a nightclub.
Newcastle Knights media manager Stephen Mount confirmed Seuseu, 19, was the subject of a police investigation over the alleged incidentwhich happened in Newcastle in the early hours of August 26.
But he denied reports in today's Daily Telegraph that Seuseu had already been formally charged with common assault.
"There's a dispute under investigation but Terence hasn't been interviewed or charged," Mount said.
Seuseu, who played hooker for New Zealand A in their win over Australia A last year, is expected to be served with a notice to appear in Newcastle Local Court on Tuesday, the Daily Telegraph reported.
Mount said CCTV footage of the alleged incident was "inconclusive".
The club was awaiting if any charges would be laid, and the outcome of any court hearing, before deciding if it would take action against the player.
Seuseu has two more years to run on his Newcastle Knights contract.
It has been a turbulent year for New Zealand-born Seuseu who burst on the scene for the Knights in an impressive National Rugby League (NRL) first grade debut in March.
At the time, coach Brian Smith labelled Seuseu a Kiwis star of the future.
Seuseu was suspended and fined by his club in April after he was involved in a nightclub scuffle which didn't result in charges.
