Accepting an early guilty plea for a shoulder charge, Jarrod Wallace will miss the next three games to rule him out of contention. Dale Copley (groin) is also in doubt and Jarryd Hayne is unlikely to be given any extra responsibility, following his public spat with axed coach Neil Henry.
That leaves few options for the struggling Titans, with veteran winger William Zillman and versatile forward Joe Greenwood among those standing. Proctor could get the call-up, though, given the club's satisfaction with the test forward's response to the incident.
"It'd be good to wear the captain's band, but they will probably give it to an older senior player like Will," Greenwood said on Monday. "There's still a few [senior players] there, but we all need to be captains on the day."
The 24-year-old has been forced to play a more senior role than expected since moving from Super League club St Helens this year.
"You can't put your finger on how we were so badly hit by injury, but with us losing some senior players, some of us younger players have to step up," he said.
Gold Coast have lost six straight games, their last victory coming on July 15 against Cronulla.
