This week we saw the most astonishing turn of events in the Sonny Bill Williams saga.
Anthony Mundine stood up to be counted and negotiated a payment to the Bulldogs that has cleared the way for Sonny Bill to get on with his football career.
That a payoutwas part of the settlement process is not at all surprising - but what is surprising is it came from Anthony Mundine.
If Mundine has paid the Bulldogs to give Sonny Bill a shot at being the best rugby player he can be with no strings attached (ie Sonny Bill doesn't have to repay it) this is among the most generous acts for sometime in the world of professional sport.
Mundine is listed as co-manager of Sonny Bill and perhaps long-term there will be some payback for Australia's best known boxer - if so, Mundine will richly deserve that.
There are not too many people in the sports world, and more importantly in the world of league, who would do what he has done.
It's also an indication that Mundine has been a lot more successful financially as a boxer than he was as a league player.
It will be interesting to see if this latest move tempers the attitude many sports-loving Australians have toward Mundine, who seems to be equally hated as much as he is loved.
This is the action of a man who deserves a little bit more loving.
The Warriors' victory over the Cronulla Sharks has them in a great position for a tilt at the top eight.
Five weeks ago, who would have thought the Warriors would beat Melbourne, Brisbane and Cronulla? Certainly not me. They have opened themselves up one of the easier paths to the playoffs.
However, while I am incredibly enthusiastic about those results, they have managed to lose twice to South Sydney. While I can't wait to see how the next three weeks pan out, I have some reservations, given that they recently lost games that they should have won.
