Lodge allegedly told two women he was following around 4am on a residential street: "This is the night you die".
The frightened women randomly buzzed apartment buildings hoping someone would let them in but, when a Good Samaritan did, Lodge punched the man in the face and then locked himself inside the man's apartment where the man's terrified wife and children were inside, authorities allege.
"After entering informant's apartment building, defendant did punch informant in informant's head causing swelling and bruising to informant's head," the criminal complaint against Lodge states.
"I am further informed that defendant then locked himself inside informant's apartment where he caused significant property damage to the apartment and informant's belongings and terrorised informant's family."
The New York District Attorney has re-set the charges police originally hit Lodge with.
Lodge has been charged with felony counts of burglary in the first degree and burglary in the second degree.
The first carries a maximum 25-year sentence.
The grand jury, where prosecutors present evidence in secret to jurors, will determine what charges Lodge will face.
He is scheduled to appear in a Manhattan court on Wednesday.
After the arrest Wests Tigers chief Justin Pascoe announced the club had terminated Lodge's playing contract.
The charges come just months after Lodge was stood down by the Tigers over similar stalking domestic violence allegations.
Lodge was granted strict bail conditions after facing court in August for six offences including stalking, intimidation and assault.
