Jordan Kahu ditches Kangaroos v England game to go shopping

Kiwis utility Jordan Kahu has admitted that he chose to go shopping instead of watching the Four Nations game that would decide his team's fate in the tournament on Sunday morning.

The Kiwis needed Australia to beat England in the final round-robin match of the Four Nations in order for them to make this Sunday's final at Anfield - a feat which the Kangaroos achieved with ease.

But Kahu told the Radio Sport Breakfast he wanted no part in watching the result unfold.

"To be honest, I was too nervous to watch it so I went and did a little bit of shopping for my family and kept up with the results on the app," he said.

Luckily for Kahu and his side, the shock 18-18 draw with Scotland on Saturday didn't come back to bite them.

"Obviously we were disappointed in our performance as a group," he said.

"Not taking anything away from Scotland, but internally we were pretty disappointed.

"By putting in that performance on the field we kind of gave the ball to Australia and it was in their hands for us to make the final.

"We were really luck they beat England."

The Kiwis will now have to beat Australia on Sunday morning - something they haven't been able to do in their last three encounters.

If they can, it will be their second consecutive Four Nations final win against Australia, and their third title.

Kahu also had a message from the entire Kiwis organisation saying staff and players wish everyone in New Zealand affected by the earthquakes all the best and they hope everyone stays safe.
