Rugby League: Wigan stumble in Super League defeat

Wigan suffered their first Super League defeat of the season yesterday, losing 24-35 to Challenge Cup finalists Bradford at Valley Parade.

The Bulls failed to beat the Warriors in four meetings last year, but leapfrogged them into top spot in the standings with a magnificent show of pace and power.

Warriors captain Andy Farrell got the three points he needed to become only the second Wigan player to score 2000 points.

Trailing 12-34, Wigan eventually put their game together in the final quarter, scoring the last two tries to set up an exciting finish.

But the Bulls managed to steady the ship to claim the crucial points.

Third-placed St Helens edged Hull 38-34 in a thrilling 13-try match at Knowsley Rd.
