Rugby league: Langer to the rescue

Brisbane Broncos managing director Shane Edwards says the league club is considering asking halfback Allan Langer to rejoin them next season.

The chances of Langer's return strengthened this week with the news that five-eighths Ben Ikin had been forced to have further knee surgery. Utility Scott Prince, who broke his leg in two places against the Bulldogs in mid-July, has also had fitness problems.

Edwards said he would discuss Langer's return with coach Wayne Bennett next week.

"We're just considering all options," he said. "Certainly [a Langer comeback] is under consideration."
