Rugby League: Ikin kept exit a secret

Brisbane standoff Ben Ikin kept his surprise decision to retire from league a well-guarded secret from his coach and father-in-law, Wayne Bennett.

Ikin, 26, was one of three Broncos to announce their retirement yesterday. Prop Andrew Gee and backrower Phil Lee will also quit at the end of the NRL season.

Ikin revealed he made the decision well before the State of Origin for Queesland. Two knee injuries had affected his speed.
